10th Street Distillery was founded by Virag Saksena and Vishal Gauri, two longtime friends and engineers who shared a passion for whisky and a belief that exceptional spirits could be crafted outside traditional whisky regions. What began as years of private experimentation and learning, from home distilling to formal apprenticeships abroad, grew into a pioneering American single malt whisky project in San Jose, California. Saksena’s early love of single malt and Gauri’s technical background laid the foundation for whiskies that balance precision, creativity, and depth of character.
Driven by a desire to create whisky that reflects both tradition and a strong sense of place, the founders combine time honored techniques with a spirit of innovation. They draw on California’s mineral rich water, local climate, and a willingness to explore unique fermentation methods and barrel programs.
